jeep owners–what kind of convertible car seat fits?

convertible car seat
I’m so crafty, I make people asked:

my husband has an ‘05 wrangler, which we use as our secondary car. my 17 month old is small and still fits in her infant seat and weighs less that the weight restriction. in the wrangler she is still in that seat. my husband will be transporting her more in the fall and we need to get a convertible seat. i want to keep her rearfacing. anyone know of a seat that fits well? don’t really care about cost, just want her as safe as she can be in a wrangler.

  2. Good job rear facing her and wanting to do the SAFEST thing for your baby (to the first poster… please do your research… rear facing is now recommended until at least 2).

To OP – my guess is that she’s pretty close to outgrowing whatever infant seat you have by height. Most kids outgrow by height way before weight. She needs at least 1″ of head room between the top of her head and the top of the shell. If she has less, you need to get a seat ASAP.

Some of my favorites that will last a long time, have nice tall top harness slots, tall shells, and will rear face long:

Evenflo triumph advanced – $130-170 depending on cover – 17″ top slots, 50lb ff limit, 35lb rear facing limit

Britax roundabout 50 – $199 – all the benefits of a marathon with a cheaper tag – has a 50lb ff weight limit (but that is much more realistic then the 65 weight limit on the marathon) – you can tether this one too rear facing – which is nice.

True Fit by One Step Ahead – 17″ top slot, 65lb weight limit ff, nice deep shell – they have a new one with an anit-rebound bar that is about $265 – its called the premier.

Graco My Ride 65 – rear faces to 40lbs and ff to 65lbs – try this one first though – Its a big seat.

There are so many… what I’d do is go to and just do some research there and look at some photos… you’re bound to find something you love!
