I think this seat is very good and like all the nice features. It is easy to install and use. However, the manual says that it can recline in the forward facing position. I can see no way in which this would be possible without the seat not being attached to the car in any way. This is extremely disappointing. My son can still sleep in it, but I know he would be much more comfortable if the seat could actually recline like it supposedly should. Maybe I am doing something wrong, but there just seems to be no way to use the recline feature. Other than that, I am happy with the safety features and ease of use, but am thinking of going with something else that will recline since he will probably be in this seat for at least a couple of years.

We got this carseat for my son when he was 1 year old after him hating his infant carrier. He used to cry all the time in the carrier. Not with this carseat. He has not fussed once about being in the car or asked to get out, and we've had it for over a year now. My parents live far out of town and when we visit, we have used two other "highly recommended" carseats. It's not the same. My son's head never falls over when he falls asleep, and I have the comfort in knowing that his carseat was constructed by a truly reliable manufacturer. When my next baby is ready, I'm buying another one.

I bought this car seat as a second seat for our toddler (we also have a Britax Boulevard). I bought it based on safety and reviews..

The Good:
*Overall, I'm happy it has the side impact testing which was big for me.
*I have the more cushiony model from BRU so it seems comfy.

The Okay:
*The strap tightening knob is really no biggie. Don't understand why anyone would think it's sooo much easier than any other seat's (infant or toddler) (btw: we had graco infant seats).
*The automatic adjusting of the shoulder straps is nice in theory but a little awkward when putting your child in the seat since it needs to be lifted up. All the toddler seats' straps I've seen are quite easy to adjust (unlike the infant seats that need to be re-routed); once again no biggie for a toddler seat.

The bad:
*I have not found a car that this fits in as snugly as my Britax does.. This seat always seems to slide a little though less than an inch. I definitely did not have this secured properly initially. After using a Britax I totally over-estimated how easy it would be to properly install this car seat. I should add that I always use LATCH. Even with the top tethered, it still moves a little. Perhaps this is normal but to me it is not.
* You will definitely need to change the recline based on each car or else it will slide over 3 inches no matter how tight you try to pull it.
*Shoulder staps get "magically" twisted despite the seat's limited use.

The Problem:
*The rounded back allows for less contact than I would like with the automobile's seat; therefore, I've discovered that incline is key and it will NOT be tight if you do not have the base all the way to the back of the seat.
*The ability to tighten the LATCH strap on only one side does not help.

My recommendation:
*Try it out both rear-facing AND forward before buying. It may lose a couple stars...
*Get a Britax if you can. But if you don't experience a Britax, you probably won't know what you're missing.
*If you do have a Britax, you definitely will need to put in more effort with this seat than you are use to.
*Overally, we hear all the statistics about car seats being installed improperly. With this car seat, there is a high chance of incorrect installation because it must be just perfect to be secure.
*Call me a Britax Snob.

I am currently looking for a different carseat for my 16 month old son because we HATE this carseat. I bought this carseat from Amazon because it got such good reviews. I wonder why so many people like this seat...it is so poorly made. We had the chicco keyfit 30 when my son was an infant and loved it. The straps on this seat constantly twist, they seem super thin, the seat is very hard to clean without taking almost all of the padding pieces off, the straps are hard to get firmly snug, etc...I HATE, HATE, HATE this carseat. I had to write a review because I am so disappointed. Can someone PLEASE make a quality carseat in the US? Does anyone have a suggestion for a better toddler carseat? Help!

I wanted a Britax because it is the best rated on Consumer Reports, and I was very happy to find this one on sale. I assume they are discontinuing the color, because otherwise it is the same as other colors priced over $250. The Diplomat is smaller than the Boulevard. We have a Subaru Impreza hatchback, and this car seat fits fine. The passenger in the front still has limited leg room, but it takes up about the same space as the Graco SnugRide we had for the first few months for our son. My son seems to like the seat. He never complains getting in, and seems quite comfy in it. His head also doesn't flop forward like in the infant seats. The straps do get twisted up easily like some other reviewers have said, but it's not a big deal. The only complaint that I have is that my son's head smells like the "new" car seat smell after riding in it. I don't like thinking about what chemicals that might be from the manufacturing process, but I guess it's unavoidable unless there are organic fabric car seats out there. All in all, a great buy! Easy to install in the car too...pretty standard.

I was very happy with the price but have two major problems. In the rear facing position, the location of the strap release is too low into the seat and is difficult to reach it with your finger. Second, the buckle release button is very hard to depress. I don't have really strong fingers but this is insanely hard to depress. I even had my friend try it to see if it was just me and she had a hard time as well. It is not my main carseat so I don't use it every day but if I did I wouldn't recommend it. My other carseat is a Brittax and I don't have any problems depressing the button and the strap release button is located higher up so I don't have problems.

My mother in law bought this car seat for her car and tried to get us to take our Graco back. The seat has only been used for a year now. It was installed and the EPS foam broke way from the tabs. My mother in law called Evenflo and one of the people there stated it was okay if the foam had broken way and to still use it. I thought wait a minute this is not safe. My wife called then and they stated they would send the EPS foam out. Well, I changed it and the thing happen again. I hate this car seat, the cup holder is so flimsy it broke to. I am glad we have the Graco, and I will stay with Graco. Evenflo, makes a piece a junk car seat and compromises safety as well. Stay from this product, go with Graco!!

Ok, I've read the reviews and raves, but honestly I cannot share the excitement over this seat. Coming from Europe and being used to reclineable seats (both booster and toddler) I was highly disappointed by the much advertised "3 position recline", which is a joke at its best.
Our daughter is 4yo, rather tall and notorious for falling asleep in the car. Her slumping fwd while asleep is not only a safety but also comfort concern of mine, so we went for the Nautilus and were awed by the almost nonexistent recline.

Now we've got the Eddie Bauer Deluxe Booster Seat and it's not only cheaper but it also has a nice recline position in which she doesn't slump fwd everytime she falls asleep and we have to break.

We ordered closeout color huntington and without being told, were shipped color taylor instead--at the greater price! Now we are being asked to pay the shipping to return a car seat that we don't want and didn't order. MAKE SURE at checkout that the price you are paying matches the car seat you want to order!
