I moved Alyssa to a convertible seat when she was too tall for the newborn seat. It was probably 8-9 months. (And she will stay rear facing until 35 lbs!)

When they exceeded the length for the car seat – maximum is 26″ (Graco SnugRide), some are as little as 25″ – for us that’s on or before 6 months.

When they outgrow the pumpkin seat. You have to read the label on the seat to find the length/weight limits.
My girls outgrew it around 6 months, my son is probably too big now at three months.
